We are pleased to announce that Dr Tabasum Shah was named East Anglia Faculty GP Award 2022 Winner!

This award is for the most outstanding contribution to Primary Care service provision or development by a GP in the preceding year.

We are not surprised that Dr T Shah was awarded since he has worked tirelessly not only in his own practice but also in supporting other local practices and through the vaccination programme. He was instrumental in establishing our PCN vaccination centre, providing a significant majority of the clinical supervision hours at the centre, whilst also providing caretakership and support for two practices that had seen their CQC registrations suspended or revoked, enabling them to continue serving their patient populations and ensuring continuity of care for over 11,000 patients, in addition to running his own practice.

Dr Shah is enthusiastic about education, and our practice regularly hosts trainee nurses and medical students. This year we will also be taking our first GP registrar under Dr Shah’s tutelage. This approach also extends to his own learning, and seeing an above average prevalence of cardiac conditions at the practice, Dr Shah is now applying for his postgraduate diploma in cardiology in a one day per week placement at PCH, using his experience there to improve care for our patients at the practice.

One of Dr Shah’s most regular sayings is: “If I can make at least one person feel better, I can go home happy at the end of the day”. His extraordinary compassion, incomparable work ethic, and generous nature command respect and loyalty from his colleagues and patients. Congratulations, Dr Shah!
