Dementia Event
We are holding an event at Thorpe Road Surgery for our patients, their carers and families, and anyone else whose lives may have been touched by dementia.
Dementia directly affects around 900,000 people in the UK, with many more suspected to remain undiagnosed. Stigma and fear are common barriers to people seeking diagnosis and support when worried about memory loss, and it is vital for us to work at breaking down these barriers. Getting an early diagnosis means a person’s needs can be identified, and this in turn means they can access support to live well with their dementia.
Friday 9th September between 2pm and 4pm
Join us at the practice for a cup of tea and to learn more about the condition, talk to specialist advisers, and meet others with shared experiences. You will gain information or have a general chat with the local team on the support and services available for those affected by dementia.
Featuring information sessions, support, and Q&A’s from:
- Karen Ella, Health & Wellbeing Coach
- Siobhan Merrygold, Alzheimer’s Society adviser
Who can benefit?
- Those living with dementia or worrying about it
- Their friends and family
- Unpaid carers
